The next step is to begin to limit the scope of the problem. The gauge has a very circular frame so we will use the Find Circular Edge function.
In our case the lighting of gauge was not sufficient so we had to bring in an overhead lamp. Even though you can see the gauge very clearly in the previous picture, for the algorithm it was still too problematic. These are the sort of lighting and constraint problems common in vision applications.
